Blessed. :)

I am truly blessed.

Blessed to have people who really care for me, people who take the effort to reassure me in all that I do; people who even are at different parts of the world, will take time to know and be part of your life still.

In relation to one of my previous posts 'Enlightenment', I received two emails from two different friends.

TY and Tsin, both your emails put a sincere, heart-touched smile on my face.

Tsin: ".... Despite that post which miiiiiiiiight took you a lot of courage to post because it shows your little 'failure' in life,
I still belief in you because you are my small but TOUGH friend. :)

.... And just to tell you that your friend from half way round the globe deeply beliefs in you."

TY: "... i guess everyone our age is just the same... but reading what u write always makes me feel better to know there is someone out there just like me, that i'm not alone.
.... and most importantly, i love how u're always positive about it in the end. keep that spirit going! i'll always remember that smile on ur face. u have the loveliest smile =)"

I am so thankful to have both of you as good friends. TY my dear high school friend, I hope all's well on your side in Scotland. and to Tsin my A-levels best bud, I hope the same for you in Manchester.

Lots of love,
Wei Lynn.

From Princeton & Bath... to the land down under

Some 3-4 weeks ago, two friends whom I've met in A-levels, Taylors M'sia came down to Melbourne for holidays. I was close to one of them; the other one not as close, but we do get along well. I am thankful that after these years we still meet up, because as I recall, we were not from the same classes, neither were we in the same stream (they were both in sciences).

I am not sure if both of them know each other- as they were from different classes in A-levels as well, but knowing how friendly & likeable these two guys are, I am not surprised if they do :-)

Now firstly, let me introduce you to Mr.Princeton. I kid you not. He really does study in Princeton Uni! Let's screw the whole Blair statement thing that 'Princeton is a trade school- there's only Yale!' thing alright, we know how great Princeton is. Haha anyway, his name is Chern Han and I got to know him through Patrick, Zhen Yuan etc, and also through the CHS bunch when I was a secretary in Leo Club. CH is possibly one of the very complete all-rounder guys you'll find around- aces in his academics, and is fantastic at sports. He used to so kindly help me out in my Pure Math back in A-levels, I will always remember that sifu :)

We didn't meet up that much (not that close to him to him mah). But ZY & I brought him to Norsiah's for lunch, just to show him how we Melb Uni students eat on a budget Malaysian cuisine. And since he mentioned he wanted to play badminton, I brought him to one of our club social sessions in Uni. He is pretty good, I must say. We also had dinner with his PE friends at a Korean place, where a few of us got back to my place for a chilling drinking session after. Last dinner at Papa Gino's, Lygon street before he went back!
(thanks ZY for calling! :p)

What a poser this Princeton boy is, purposely ask me to take him posing like this...

'claims that this is his 'dou san' face... please, we all know who the real chor dai di god is ;)

P.S. U better keep your promise of hosting me ar when I come visit New York! Hope you had fun here! :)

OK, moving on....

Next up we have one of the FUNNIEST (by funny I mean FUNNY, full of @!#^&) guys YOU WILL EVER FIND. His compliments for you are endless, filled with the most flowery words and sentences that you can't even find in the dictionary. And that makes him one of the most likeable people around :-)

Let me introduce you to.. MR.JIAT!

I am not entirely sure how we met, but if I am not mistaken, it was during the Leo Club installation night? And you were the photographer of the event, right? :p haha. Funny how our friendship blossomed to such great heights after. Anyhowss-

He made his arrival even before he landed in Tullamarine Airport.. I swear. Why?? Well because he took a picture of his flight ticket, uploaded it on his fb and TAGGED all of us (hehe his close friends and I am one of them yay! gosh i'm so thick skinned but whatever it's true what). AND not to forget, every time I go on msn he will NUDGE me and START REMINDING ME of his arrival in melbourne... and that I must spend time with him when he's here, must go club and drink with him, must play badminton with him, must do this do that.

U tell me, how not to anticipate his arrival? His presence is already made so strongly before he's physically here! Hehee... Ok la I admit, I was pretty excited also to see him also. He's sucha good friend you know :p And also since in the July break in m'sia we only met up once.

Aiyo, I love this pic lah! :S

Actually, the reason he flew here was to celebrate his bestie's (Matt) 21st birthday! So sweet of him, right?? We went to Seven to celebrate pre-Matt's birthday, and it's such a happy sight seeing Jiat so high & onz on the dance floor! Lol.. Matt had his dinner celebration at Red Emperor, Southgate the next day (that's where the picture above was taken!). And a crazy ass drinking party back at their place after, where I only joined for a while. But i'm sure jiat had one of his happiest moments, surrounded by most of his best friends, and alcohol... ;D

A pity though that we didn't get to play badminton. I knew how much he wanted it. Sorry Jiat. :( Ur stay in Melbourne so short, and the weekends that you were here you were not free also! End of the year, ok?? But please give me chance. I damn noob already.

Now to the mushy part hehe. I'm so glad and thankful to have a friend like you, jiat. U always crack me up, whenever, wherever! Especially those A-levels time, wah damn stress, then all your sms-es will always lift my mood up! Stay nice, stay kind, stay the wayy you are, okay!

xoxo.

is it spring break already?

This weekend has got to be the longest and most tiring weekend ever. Eventful, busy, productive, fruitful perhaps?, BUT exhausting.

From the preparations for the ball on friday, to the ball and the after party, to sat morning waking up to head to hil's bbq at yarraville, to my mixed doubles match that evening itself, to jasmine's 21st that night itself, to sunday the whole day at the courts of which i fared so badly in singles and mixed.

Right now, my right arm hurts like hell (got muscles already!!), my knees are bruised, my thigh muscles are so damn painful, my hair is in a mess- well so is my apartment. Sigh.

Calls for spring cleaning time? Definitely one of my agendas to achieve this spring break.

I have so, so much to update but I am just too worn out now. All I need now is 2-3 days of doing nothing, sleeping, eating, reading novels, watching series & just enjoy my god damn break. And of course, to recover from all the body aches. I can't be walking around limping can I? God I feel like an ah ma now.

Oh wait, isn't it spring break already? Since I will not be able to move my body for two days, you might be hearing from me sooner than you think. ;-)

Till then my dear friends. Have a good spring break! And for those of you who are travelling elsewhere like GC, Sydney or even good ol' Msia.. I am so excited for you! :) Make sure to have a blast! And have it memorable. Lynnie's gonna be enjoying spring in melbourne just fine :) lots love!*

Patience is a virtue

My tax law assignment partner and my mixed doubles baddy parter are both so patient it puts my patience to shame. :(

Patient people are so nice to be around with, they make life and the world around you a whole lot better.

Patience is a virtue I have yet to master; but in time I hope to improve on mine.

P.S. I recently just added the reactions boxes below each and every of my post. I find it so cool! And I've seen a few ticks already on diff posts! Yay :) Feel free to tick on whichever you like okie.

A great weekend joke!

HAHAHAHAHH this really made my saturday! Am at ERC now starting on my tax law assignment, when I received this email from Uncle Poh.

*

A Woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods.

She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog In a trap.

The frog said to her, "If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes."

The woman freed the frog, and the frog said,

"Thank you, but I should mention that there was a condition to your wishes:
Whatever you wish for, your husband will also receive it ten times over!"

The woman said, "That's okay."

For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.

The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also make your husband by far the most handsome man in the world, whom women will flock to".

The woman replied, "That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will have eyes only for me."

So, KAZAM--she's the most beautiful Woman in the world!

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.

The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you. "

The woman said, "That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's his is mine."

So, KAZAM--she's the richest woman in the world!

The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, "I'd like to have a mild heart attack..."

*Moral of the story*: Women are clever. Don't mess with them.

*Attention*

*Female readers*: This is the end of the joke for you. Stop here and continue feeling good!

*Male Readers*: Please scroll down.

The man had a heart attack ten times "milder" than his wife!

*Moral of the story*: Women are really dumb but think they're really smart .

Let them continue to think that way and just enjoy the show.

PS: If you are a woman and are still reading this; it merely goes to show that women just never listen!

*

Hope it made your weekend just as how it made mine! :)
P.S. I really don't appreciate it when someone grabs something off someone else and not thank them. Be it an idea, or a suggestion. And act like you've got the job well done on your own. At least have the decency to thank him/her.

How is anyone allowed to be THAT hot?!

... THAT gorgeous?!

... THAT perfect?

I got this off her official website.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, but in all the HP movies- albeit agreeing that Emma is good looking, I won't consider myself a fan of hers. Like, I won't talk about her in my conversations; neither will I go google her and find out more about her. How did I fall upon her website then, you ask? Well I was wikipedia-ing on random stuff, and her name came up on the gossip girl wiki pedia page. So I thought okay, just check her out.

AND AFTER THAT MY IMPRESSION ON HER CHANGED.

Wahliao, Burberry really made a right choice having Emma Watson as the face of the brand for Autumn/Winter 2009.

One very important marketing skill- maximizing brand association to increase its brand equity. In this case, using a rising star like Emma to increase Burberry's market value. Emma's British, and quoted Christopher Bailey from the website, 'classic beauty, great character and a modern edge' - the third party association here is relevant and consistent with the brand image!!

And to think that she got accepted to so many of the Ivy Leagues but chose Brown instead!!! (a plus point since I'm a Serena fan) Truly, beauty with the brains!

I also want to own a Burberry now.

This is for my kakak :)

I know, I am not supposed to be blogging till after the 14th, right?

But I spent whole of last night watching the TV anyway, when I had an exam today. And I cancelled my work shift tonight, to study, as I hoped I would. But I thought I deserve a rest after the exam, and so I HIMYM-ed and read blogs all the way till now. OK, don't have to rub it in- I am a true slacker and I admit it!

I just read Sammy's blog and I must add, I really really enjoy reading her blog because seeing her so happy living the life she's always wanted- in New York (she lives in Long Island but she always goes to the city i think? lol), makes me happy too. And I can really relate to whatever she's written because I am a HUGE Gossip Girl fan, and I squeal in excitement & delight when I see Sammy visiting places like Times Square, Grand Central, Central Park!

Sigh, one day, I will re-visit the States. The last time I visited? I was just a little 6 year old girl. I can't remember much except for drives along the high way with the family, stopping by at bed & breakfasts. There was this particular chinese restaurant where my parents love and we keep visiting it, ahh I can't remember where and what!

Most importantly, not forgetting the place where my phobia for roller coasters started- Disney Land, Washington D.C. I recall being so excited over the rides and I can't wait to sit all of them. I recall very strongly of this ride- the Indiana Jones ride as I wasn't tall enough for that ride!! I was devastated. BUT, the thing is- in my mind now it's as if I had sat the ride, is my mind playing tricks on me?? On the more bright side, (what with already a pity with my height issues), I made the cut for 'Space Mountain'- a roller coaster in the dark. Funny, that after that ride- my phobia for coasters transpired. Even now in Genting, I dare not sit the Cockscrew. The most daring ride I had after space mountain? was the Cyclone, and after much much persuasion from friends. I am such a coward.

Anyway back to the purpose of this post-

It suddenly just hit me that, my old maid (or kakak as I prefer to call her, it has a more pleasant ring to it don't you think?) has gone back to Indonesia for good. Mummy informed me weeks ago that they replaced her with a Cambodian maid, as my kakak was unhappy. At first I didn't understand why wouldn't she be happy; my parents treat her so nice, never once scold her, bring her out for dinners, gives her gifts for her birthdays etc. And my parents taught her a lot too! Valuable you know these life-long knowledge.

But putting ourselves in her shoes, well I guess she's worked for us for 5 years, and that's a long time. Any human being would feel the same way as she did- bored, and wants to go back to her family back home. And probably in their culture, they want to get married young? In our defense though, she did have an attitude problem. She is a perfectionist- wants everything to be her way and wants to get everything done in the time she wants it to be done. And if she doesn't achieve that- she will just let out her temper on my parents, especially my grandmother. You know, kitchen issues among the women, sensitive.

So before she runs away (she might have), we asked her politely if she wants to go back. And she said yes. She, afterall accepted our offer to extend her contract twice already.

Enough of the story there, gee I feel I am revealing too much, but whatever lah. Anyhow my point is, kakak Umi was a good kakak. She served us well for 5 years, helped us move houses from BU to Idaman, to now T.I. It's no easy fit packing, moving and unpacking! She always makes sure that the house is in tip top condition- clean, neat, and presentable. She cooks every meal for all of us. Heck she is a good cook, learned alot from my grandma! Especially her Yee Min, damn nice. She washes all of our clothes fast, to ensure we can wear them anytime we want. She amends/sews my tops which buttons have come off too. She is very efficient as she will write down groceries we need to buy- and she is quick at the market too.

All in all, I am going to miss her. Despite her not opening up to us, not treating us like part of her family, she after all is still a good kakak, a good helper where she did lessen our burdens in many ways. Like my parents don't have to worry so much about household stuff. And we kids get fed whenever we want to (not sounding spoilt here). Except at times when she got her temper and moods la of course.

*So kakak, I wish you all the best back in Indonesia. (she is super rich now and should be able to buy land in Indo already!! I hope she is wise and not get conned by any men). I didn't get to say goodbye to you as I was already back in Melbourne, but I will send you a postcard sometime. Thank you for being with us and helping us so much in the past 5 years. Take care, much love, Lynn, as how you call me back home :)*

Will be back, soon! :D

Sorry for the temporary shut down of my blog & lack of updates, guys! Am going through a minor hiatus now.

This week:-
ACE midsems on tuesday (20%)
FA midsems on friday (30%)
Product Management assignment due friday as well (20%)
Tax Law assignment due the monday after (25%)

And to think that I'm STILL not doing anything productive. :( I thought saying no to social obligations this weekend will make me maximize time to study, but, aihs... sad to say it was spent sleeping + watching series.

OK, will be back to telling stories after the 14th September! :) Be sure to come back, y'all loyal readers (if there is any)! ;p

P.S. was talking to mummy earlier, and i really think what she said was true. life is simple, it's what we think and act that makes it complicated. there is no reason for us to unhappy at all. i mean, we can look at a situation and think three think four; or we can just look at it in a simple way. sigh, i want to be simple from now on. :)
