I was in the car just now with my dad.. and mix fm was playing.. wait, was it mix? I think so.. anyway, this song came up, and I felt what the dj said was so true.. She said: those who are in a relationship now should care only of what the other partner thinks.. and not take into account what people they don't know, people they don't like say.. It doesn't matter because what matters is what your other half thinks.. =)
In short, it means(according to my interpretation) that we should stand strong in our relationship, trust our partner, not let external factors affect our relationship so easily.. After all, who are they to judge, when we ourselves know what's best..

Being single's not bad, you know.. Love yourself first before you start loving others.. When I mean love yourself, do things which make you happy.. Do things which add value to yourself & others.. Improve yourself.. Try new things, different things.. Make new friends..

Well I think it's important what you yourself think and well as what your family and close friends think. What your partner think maybe only from a perspective and thus biased. A relationship takes two, trust is an essential part of any relationship however I think both parties need to earn that trust and prove that they are both trustworthy. External factors play a part in testing the relationship to see if it can weather storms in life else how would you know if your relationship will last through difficult times? But it's true too that what strangers or people who don't know you so well think should be taken with a pinch of salt. =)

Oh my.. you're right and guess what, I wanted to add that into my post the moment I posted it.. but I was lazy! Oh well.. I agree with you, external factors do play a part.. like family & close friends.. Afterall, when you're too deep in a relationship, you may be blinded by flaws of your own and the others.. flaws as in not flaws flaws, but yeah u get what i mean :P thanks for the comment dear!!
