Save tonight- eagle eye cherry ;)

*sore feet, but twas a good saturday night spent! my first saturday night since i got back not out for drinks or partying, instead i was doing something i've been wanting to do. :) what i've learned today? we make mistakes, and it feels so much better saying 'i'm sorry it's my fault' (with a smile) rather than giving all reasons to defend yourself. people have different moods at different point in time, and if they look angry or are angry at you, don't take it personally to your heart. put ourselves in their shoes, you'd want people to emphatise with you too, no? :) lastly, always put on a smile wherever you go, a smile is sweeter than any flowery words, a smile brings out the warmth in people, a smile will never go wrong :)

was trying to start on my mandarin essay this afternoon, or more like looking at the topic for the first time. i was lost. mandarin in uni is different from high school (PMR and SPM), in terms of essay-writing wise. i'm sure we malaysians were taught to choose 'pembincangan' or 'fakta-fakta' topics right back in those exam days? 'cause writing stories and fictions are just not easy, especially if you don't have a knack for imagination and a chunk of superb vocabulary. over here, all topics are on stories-alike!! *sigh* you give me a topic on 'how to curb crime' or 'put a stop to fraud' can la, but a topic on 'my first outing with a friend'?!

can't even speak a proper sentence to my mandarin coordinator now, had to re-think it over in my head and repeat it to myself a few times before i actually talk. that's what not-using-a-language-for-years does to you. despite this, i am glad that i am rekindling with the language i love now! plus, just now, i actually put this to good use when communicating/taking orders from china people! :) was pretty proud of myself, i'd say. :p

sigh, i really have to start on my marketing assignment and mandarin essay tomorrow. not to mention there's a business finance test too next week. how i'm looking forward to the end of next week already!

alrighty, off to bed now, if you hear from me soon meaning i'm procastinating yet again with my assignments! ;)

Keeps gettin' better

Look what I conjured up for dinner tonight!

papa, mummy, and mama will be so proud of me i know ;) even ken, shaun and kakak would.

come on, give me some credit! :p you're talking to a girl who's never stepped foot into the kitchen!!

Where there is love, there is life

Absolutely love this saying! Came across it when I was at Borders 2 days ago. :D

This goes to show that, whatever we do, we should do it with love! A heart filled with love can do wonders.. :)

**
I attended an amazing concert last Friday. The Fray was playing, with Secondhand serenade and this other new band as the opening acts. I mainly went for SHS, but when The Fray came out, the grounds and atmosphere transformed into a whole different level. They were that good. I especially love 'never say never', which was recommended by Hil the day before. But my favourites are still 'look after you' and 'you found me' ;)

Not to mention that SHS was equally good as well, what with them playing 'your call' and 'fall for you' making the crowd go wild! I recorded these songs but I'm too lazy to post them up :p
To be honest, I'm really not much of a gig person as opposed to chings and hil who really, really appreciate their music and will pay to see their favourite bands perform! But I had no regrets at all watching shs & the fray perform! :)

P.S. Thank you Kai for inviting! And to May for lining up hours earlier just to get front line. She's pretty hardcore :D hehe.

Hil & his cousin- Donna!
She's really funny and nice and I like her :)

Lead singer of SHS

The Fray- Isaac Slade

The cute guitarist :)

And finally,

Kai, Hil, Donna & I

Headed to PJ's housewarming after that. :)

Yi Ting celebrated his 21st birthday at Universal, Lygon Street on Saturday night :) I've known him for.. 10 years already. Wow, we really do go wayy back!

B'day boy with his 21 glowing candles. Cake was bought by Lynn Li, a sweet gal!~

Group pic :)

The girls @ Fazil's place- where we had drinks after dinner

Lynn Li a happy girl with all the drinks!

That night I encountered something I thought I'd never be able to pull through, but I did. Though I must admit that it still wasn't easy sometimes seeing it with your eyes, but when you think far beyond that, on how if one can be happier with another, and how good people do deserve the best, then it's all worth it. After all, 'where there is love, there is life' :)

Have a good week ahead, everyone!

Sunday, March 15, 2009

It's Sunday night again.

And I had a pretty eventful weekend! :)

As opposed to last weekend which was equally eventful, this time however, I put my camera to good use... ;)
*first time bringing my camera out since I touched down Melb

Friday, 13th March

I tried out, or rather, went for a training session for the womens futsal team. It was only my second time playing futsal, and I love it, but I don't think I will go on with the consequent sessions. The girls there were sooo good, and I'm lazy to pick up a new game now.. Probably will just stick to badminton or something. Sigh, boring right??

After that, rushed to Khai's birthday BBQ thingy @ Milano apartments!

Su Lynn, birthday boy, yours truly, Yi Ling

p.s. Su Lynn and I have heard of each other's names wayy before and we finally met! A very adorable girl she is ;)

The girls :)

At bout 9 ish, I headed over to Jwaw Bar @ QV for Shin's 21st celebration!

the gorgeous birthday girl & I got caught doing a candid :p

... and, another candid ;)
this time with Keith. Such a small world, bumped into brandon & him there!

I left pretty early back to Khai's thing, which they proceeded to a drinking session at Khai's place itself, Franklin Loft.

I love this group pic! :)
Look how red Khai's face is! Like lobster only. Hehe.

And that's how my Friday night ended, was good meeting up with old peeps and made a few new friends as well!

Saturday, 14th March

A night of house warmings! which started off with..

Hui hui & Hannah's

They're the nicest and loveliest girls you will ever meet. Both ex-IHers, they live just right opposite Vic Mart now.. Thank you for inviting me, girls :) Got to catch up with many, many IH peeps that night!

Some were very engrossed in Twister that night...

The catching up didn't end there! Lu xian & I proceeded to Zach, KK, Aaron & Jae's house warming @ IH itself! And we got to see more IH people :) So happy!! The experience we have having stayed in a residential college will always stick with us, somehow...

Zach & his girl, Kristina :)
*Ooh I'm so happy for you zach!!

Miss Jae whom everyone loves! If you have yet to meet her, you should...

After hanging around for abit, rushed over to Red Hummingbird @ Russel Street for Audrey's 21st thank you drinks.

I'm glad I dropped by, even for a little while.. Audrey looked gorgeous! Lol.. And what caught me by surprise was.. I bumped into my A-levels mate, Serene! Ahh, was soo good to see her! Haven't seen her in ages..

Serene (another serene, not my alevels mate lol), Ca Li, Audrey!, me :)

And we got hungry at half past 12.. Which shops actually open at that time besides Hungryjacks and Mackers? Nowhere but Chillipadi! A very famous spot among all the party people who needs a bite after partying.. not us, of course..

This guy here made my night.

See that 3 words bolded. His singing was amazing. What more when he sang 'i'm yours' by jason mraz so perfectly, I swear I almost went to heaven :p Too bad I didn't get his name, he was surrounded by his bunch of friends the whole time! But trust me, he was amazing. And so was this other guy actually, but he didn't sing 'i'm yours' laa ;)

**
To top it off, I just came back from a gooood dinner with Vern Chui @ Mercadante, Lygon Street. Finally got to catch up with her!! Yay yay. We went in at 8 and left at 10. Boy can we talk :D Missed her so, as we used to spend almost every lunch together back in PwC days! Lol..

In a blink of an eye, yet another week has passed. Can't believe I've been back in Melbourne for 2 weeks already! I've learned to adapt and love Melb once again. :)

I haven't read a book in ages and I'm glad I just finished one tonight! Reading always makes me happy. :D A few of my favourite authors are J.K. Rowling with the infamous HP series, Sidney Sheldon with his most amazing ideas ever, Dan Brown's which will absorb you into a totally different world, John Grisham, Sophie Kinsella's shopaholic series but it was 'Can you keep a secret?' which totally stood out, in my opinion. Even my brother, my mom & her friends loved it! But, of course, my reading is nowhere near Sammy's, or Suyi's... They read a wide range- just about anything, which makes my girls so knowledgeable :p

The 'off the computer' book I just read was by Nicholas Sparks- A Bend in the Road. Lol, I got it off Vern Chui, who very kindly passed it to me through her pendrive during our internship stint. THIS, was one of her entertainments at work- to read online books!! Gosh, that girl ar. ;) ALSO not to mention what she does with GOOGLE when she's bored.... Haha, kidding, girl!! Of course I won't tell the whole world!

I'm currently addicted to this song:
Run the Show by Kat DeLuna

Do you like it? I swear, if that song is played in a club, I'll go crazy. Other songs i'll go crazy for: Cookie Jar, Forever, Disturbia, Lollipop, Love in this Club, Poker Face, Right na na na, Dangerous, What you got (Akon ROCKS!!)...

Sometimes in life, we just need a little reminder, of who we are; a little nudge, to make us more aware; a little more effort and time to get deep into the roots of what lies beneath us.. And it's good friends who will do just that. And sometimes in life, good friends is just what we need. It takes time to build friendships, so don't think it can just come by easy..

I'm glad I had the talk with you last night, xx. Just so you know, you are a very good friend of mine and I'm grateful for that. :)

aarghh I don't understand why some people can be so fake and be someone whom you're not! why can't you just be yourself?
xx
Bad luck is really throwing itself on me these days. :(

First, of my displease-ment with my unit.

Second, I lost one whole box of shoes! 4 pairs of boots, 2 heels, 2 to 3 flats, a sports shoes.. all inside. One pair of boots cost me a bomb mind you, so does my nine west heels and flats. I am devastated.

Third, I locked myself out today of my unit!! It was outside office hours, so it's either paying the locksmith $160 or stay over at a friend's place. Called the caretaker and paid 50 bucks instead.

Seee what I mean?!?

:'(

I'm currently in Franktate, using the internet that I still do not have at my new place. For those Melbourne Uni students, you would know how peaceful Franktate is at night, with its slow, classical music playing in the background, and the many many desktops it offers. Anyhow, coming here to blog, I have so much to say I just needed to let it out.

So far staying on my own is great. I love it. Waking up to making my own breakfast, taking my own sweet time to get ready, and go to uni and run activities for the whole day, come home at night and unwind, sleep. This part, is ok. The other part- my accomodation- not so ok. The unit I got was pretty small, still, no matter. It's the weirdly shaped unit with the large beam from the ceiling that is so annoying! Well if you believe in feng shui (my dad does), it's not good to sleep or study or do anything under a beam. I have a huge beam in the middle of my room and it's making me difficult to move my furnitures around to 'get away' from the beam seeing as my unit is already small.

This, I have to blame my bad decision making skills. My indecisiveness. I have actually chosen a better unit before I chose this unit, but because I kept changing my mind, eventually I settled with this unit which was the least good choice. So many times this has happened to me and yet I have not changed. Really, one of my resolutions this year, and for being 21, is to be able to be steady in making decisions and move on with it.

I quote my mom 'Sometimes in life, we want to get the best, but we really don’t know what is the best.. if can get close to the best, and it will give us much peace of mind, we should decide early and make the most of it, and more importantly use the extra time we have to live life more rather than keep thinking about it.'

There are no other available units for me to move to. But if I happen to come across a good 2 bedroom accomodation, I will break this lease and go on with the new one... I really hope to settle down quick so I can focus on my studies and other curricular activities. Then again, somtimes I think I dawn this upon myself, for being so indecisive, reckless that I think I deserve this as a punishment, to actually hit me, will then I learn.

Putting all these aside, Uni has been great. Despite missing home so much on the first day I arrived here, the consequent days have been really good. Seeing so many familiar faces as you walk from one end of the campus to the other end, exchanging hugs and catching up, going to lectures, taking part in this and that, I really love being a student. Not forgetting that me taking an Advance Mandarin subject this sem is an added bonus to the excitement of my academic life!!

It's 12 a.m. now and I should head home.. Please let it not be raining. The weather these days is so erratic. And cold. I don't like. :(
