Midnight rambles!-

Melbourne Uni students are crazy! Was at ERC till past midnight and so many people were still there! Omg, what are they doing there till so late. So hardworking meh :( In comparison to me.. sigh. Anyhow I was there too tonight because had to do some last minute work hehe.

So I was researching on companies for my 30% marketing group assignment, and realized that I know barely half of the top 20 global companies!! talk about me being a commerce student. super shy. but but!! now i know ok?? so no one can tease me about it! at least the top 10 la.

Guess what caught my attention?? The mention of FB in.. look below!

**

In BusinessWeek, Facebook's number 40 in the top 50 most innovative companies with 51% of its customers who thinks so. But it's dropped from rank 29 last year, quite surprising I feel. Considering that it always 'innovates' itself... always got new layout etc etc! well I doubt I belong to the 51% :p i hardly log onto fb nowadays. lazy la :(

In Fortune, Global 500 for the year 2008- ranks 2 to 4 are all owned by the Petroleum Refining industry. Exxon Mobil taking number 2, Royal Dutch Shell taking number 3 and BP taking number 4 consequently. Each originated from Texas, U.S., Netherlands and Britain respectively. BUT, under the fastest growing top industries, this industry is still behind Banks...

**

Wow, I am amazed myself. Talking things OF SUBSTANCE for once. ;D hehe.

Sorry If I sound a bit sampat tonight, it's 2 a.m. and I just had 4 pieces of bread with nutella (my <3), chocolate milk, and I fried myself 2 eggs!! SIGHH. blame the cold weather. it's freakishly cold it sinks into my bones. :( had to cling on to my best friend once again *hehe michelle would understand this.

Anyhow, based on my last post.. there was this 'ambitious' part of me stated in there. I have to tell you that it died down a little. I guess at different stages in our lives, we yearn for different things. In primary, high school etc, you go for clubs and socities, but in University.. after being in ICSS and baddy club for 1st and 2nd year, I just want to enjoy my 3rd year (which is next semester). Get a part time job, go to the gym, study (this is supposed to be the first shuucks!), hang out with friends I enjoy hanging out with, party, play sports I like, chill out... and... maybe poker. :) hehe! okay, okay. that minor infatuation with it is now fading off. haven't even managed to youtube wsop as recommended by ken. lol. maybe i will do that now actually.

*NEVERTHELESS, friends who are running for various high posts have my utmost, complete support still! Go SY & JS!! You guys make me proud :)

I'm superrr hyper now lah after eating so much!! terrible me. while miss elaine is swimming and exercising away with a very strict diet... her partner in crime is sinning all the way. sigh, nvm, i shall.. go to sleep now. with a satisfied tummy. and embracing the cold some more. how much better does it get, right?

touched :)

Should I call? Or should I fold?

The pot was huge with raises & all of that. I got a Kings pair, or a pocket kings in poker terms. The flop had an Ace and Nine in it, and player 1 had been raising consistently. I called whenever he raised, and the table of 4 has been reduced to 3. At the river (lol I just googled the term), player 1 went ALL IN. Player 2 was deciding whether to call; and I, stood there not knowing if I should, too. I took the advice of a friend that if player 2 calls, I should fold. After all, P2 might have something, no? And in my mind, I've always thought P1 had an Ace pair.

Showdown time (gosh I'm beginning to sound like a poker player now eesh!), Player 1 had nine pair. Player 2, I can't remember but it was better than what Player 1 had, but NOT as good as my hand's. The already BIG pot went to P2.

I was on the lead. After this move, everything went downhill. It was me vs P2 who didn't quite show me mercy ;) Lol!

After the tournament where we supported player 2 in the final table whom lost, we headed back to P2's place for a home game.

Me 'owning' after 4 players being reduced to 2

So it was me vs C this time. Got him to take a pic of me with my 'bundle' of chips, and since then- everything went downhill yet again! Boooooo..... :(

Apparently, I angered the 'poker gods' because I was being abit too confident??
-_-

Poker oh poker! You made my night and that 17 dollars was worth it :)

It was the thought of Ken who made me join this tourney and I'm glad I did. He loves poker and always talks about it, I feel that now I can share my joy with him too^^ Love you, Ken!

And thank you to D, YT, YL and JS for coming when I asked :) and C for supporting heh!

You can't judge a book by its cover

Everyone, go to this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

Trust me, you will not regret watching it. I almost had tears in my eyes at the end! Thanks to mummy yet again for another one of her valued emails. It is so true that you can't judge a book by its cover.

**

On another note, I don't understand why some people just can't take compliments. It's good that you are humble and modest, but overly doing it, not so good. Especially if you really are good at that something and the end result proves so; yet when people praise you you totally push it and give so many reasons saying why you are not good. It can be quite annoying at times.

I used to be like that, but a colleague adviced me that I should accept the compliment (if it is true), and say a polite 'thank you'. That sounds much better, no??

**

THE WEEKEND IS NEARRRR! omg i can almost smell it. fun weekend ahead :) and i hope to play badminton this weekend as i've laid off racquets for almost half a year already! boo.

Last mid-semester test tomorrow.

Luck oh luck, wherefore art thou?

I need you tomorrow. :)

Of discipline & being focused.

Wei Lynn, I know you got off work early tonight, but please...

say no to Seven,

say no to your bed,

say no to Gossip Girl,

and say YES to frank tate & books.

Talk about discipline. About time I pick it up.

Especially if I want this back:

Mummy & I; 3 years ago.

Oh how I missed being fit!

It all starts with discipline, discipline, and discipline...

"Hello FT, here I come!" :D

Reminisce.

You know how sometimes some things just appear in your mind out of nowhere, a certain memory, a certain scene..

Whilst attempting to study my finance, I suddenly thought of the fun days I had during my internship stint in PwC, of how i would receive a morning greeting email from chui almost everyday, and chris being chris- always telling me how fat i am and that i should go to the gym with him, and jay son being just like anyone else i know- teasing me non-stop. oh and the lunches chui and i spent together with js!! those lrt moments that we never looked forward to but with company the thought of it just makes it better and bearable. this thought came as this morning's breakfast planned by chui was failed :( *a certain someone didn't pick up his call la lol.

And suddenly I thought of mr.choo as well! he's 1 year my senios in WMS. that clubber. haha. i can still remember how he asked me for my number but i refused to give because he called me one as well! but twas good times, those funny sms-es and emails that made me laugh. speaking of which, he's here at melb for holidays and it was sweet of him to drop me a text, probably should meet up with him if i have the time.

Last night, while walking to a friend's place in the city, I saw this couple hugging each other tighly in the middle of the street. I can't remember when was the last time I had a proper hug from someone I love and who loves me (excluding family). All I could remember was when I had it from him last time, the feeling was so, so good that you just refuse to let go because you're just lost in your very own world.

Today, at Safeway, I bumped into another of my brother's friend. I then thought of Ken and Shaun and how much they've grown up and how I wish I could spend more time with them. Hearing ken's friends talk about how much they miss him and like him, about how funny he is, and how some of them are flying back early just to catch him before he goes to switz, makes me feel so proud as a sister. I know I haven't talked about shaun much, reason being we haven't shared much to each other- but I hope we will in the future. nevertheless, i still love and miss him so. can't wait to see them both this july.

As these thoughts rummage through my mind, I stopped studying finance and wrote this. I had to, it's memories ok?? And they don't just come whenever you want or like it.

Anyhow, a quick update on my uni life thus far. I've got 3 mid-semester exams next week:-

Monday- Mandarin 5A
Tuesday- Business Finance
Friday- Cost Management

Each worth 20%! Add it all up and it's 60%!!

PLUS, I am working all night tomorrow and Saturday, too. Mummy says I shouldn't, this week. But we'll see how. Supposed to go Frank tate tonight to study, but I bailed, yet again! Weather too cold la, sigh. Will post up a proper update on my mornington trip when I get hold of the pics!! That will be after my mid-sems. Really gotta buck up on studies this semester.. Can't afford to slack like beforeee! Wish me luck! :D And to those of you are having mid-sems as well, GOOD LUCK!! =D

Jee's 21st @ Bond Lounge

Jee & I go way back; we got close in 2nd and 3rd year in secondary school. And I'm glad we still keep in touch once in a while. We used to have crazy ideas like dying and bleaching our hairs purple (for her) and blue (for me) back then. But we ended up dying it red instead after PMR hehe. And the mini skirt she got me for my 17th birthday present remains as one of my all-time favourite clothing until now.

That night I met up with many of my wesley mates and just like old times, I felt so happy and comfortable and at ease.. etc! Guess nothing could ever take back those highschool memories.

PICS time! decided to snap snap a bit this clubbing night. normally i'm damn lazy to take one.

First, let me introduce.. my cameraman for the night!~

And we kicked start the night with.. pina colada shots for only $5 each!

I really missed them.

Birthday girl on the right :) :)

Benita :)

Sarah (who's a promoter at Bond) & I

P.S. SAMMY & KEN, THIS PIC IS FOR YOU BOTH! :P

Again, Ken, this pic is for you.. saw so many of your friends okay that night! One by one went 'eh you're ken's sister!' Miss you la dude. Please sms me more.

Justin, CY & I ended our night with:

Heavenly & orgasmic :D

HAPPY 21st AGAIN DEAR, and I'll see you soon after my mid-sems!! *mwah*

Lan Tian- Zhang Hui Mei

The above song depicts what I see in this picture:

A clear blue sky (in mandarin: lan tian) with a view of the infamous yarra river, where all the top corporate high rise buildings and offices can be seen in the background.

Breathtaking, ain't it?

I took this picture while walking back from the Botanic Gardens to the city; after completing my duty as a volunteer for the 'runforthekids' marathon. I fell in love with the view immediately, albeit not the first time capturing it. And amidst all the people whisking past me, I stood there; still, and took in this.

More of the race can be read here.

My duty as a drinks station helper- to give out water to the enthusiastic, driven runners who are doing this for a good cause.

Felt good after that despite only getting to bed at 2 a.m. and getting up at 5 a.m., thus decided to drop by Diva where I rewarded myself with a purchase of 3 hairbands, my love. All this happened last Sunday on the 5th of April.

Exactly one week later, I will be up at the same time yet again(in about 4 hours time!). However, this time I will be leaving to Mornington. One of my designated place in my list to visit and I cannot be more excited. :p

Kenneth's 21st

Tonight was good! Firstly, again I cooked and I must say, my cooking's getting better.. :) Secondly, 'A lot like love' was playing on TV and for the first time, I actually sat down and watched the TV. Normally I'll just leave the TV on and my mind will be oblivious towards the programmes being played. Watching this movie for the 2nd time reminds me of Su yi. Remember dear, we watched it together in One U agesss ago?? Sigh, those were the high school days! One U was our second homee. :) And I was snacking on Ritz biscuits + Nutella after my dinner while watching this show. This, feels so fulfilling I tell you. :p

Anyway, back to the post stated above! Kenneth's 21st birthday. If there's one person you want to party/club with, it'd be him cause he's always up for parties and he's fun to club with! It's funny how we met. Jason and I was watching a movie after we got our SPM results, and so happened Kenneth and his gang were in front of our row. Kenneth and Jay started talking and somehow I got into the conversation. He so happened to be doing the same course as Cal and so I actually saw him more often due to Cal, and soon enough we started hanging out! Those BBQ pool parties he had and those yamcha sessions, maison clubbing nights and that one particular ruums night when he had to drive to and fro for something! hahaha. those were the days ;)

He celebrated his 21st @ Seven. My first time stepping into Seven this year! Went there a little more often last year; but this year- decided not visit clubs so much unless it's a good friend's birthday! Have been doing good so far but since it's the year of 21stss... :) you just can't be too sure can you ;p Oh and the theme for the night at seven is NERD night. My, what a theme!

And the Birthday Boy dressed up perfectly!

He claims we were all NOT dressed up and he among the few who DID.... which was true lah. :S

Yean May- Kenneth's good friend who took care of him, and who lots of pictures that night :)

Shaun- Lol somehow we have heard of each other's names before but haven't been formally introduced! A nicee guy nonetheless. :p

I like :)

And finally,

Yours truly fitting in with the theme. :D

I fell in love with these glasses!~

it was a fun night seeeing so many people got high, especially the birthday boy! man, his tolerance is normally damn good, i guess it's called a '21st birthday party' for something, isn't it? :) OK, seeing him again tomorrow night for his birthday dinner! REAL birthday. :D

P.S. Got these pictures off FB, didn't take any pics using my camera. Was too lazy =S

we should always do things that makes us happy

And watching Gossip Girl always makes me happy! :)

Hehe.. I may sound a little 'bimbotic', but oh-so-truee! Come on, even guys I know watches GG.. I'm trying to persuade my mom to watch it as well. Lol! For me, GG is not all just about its amazing kick-ass wardrobe which I envy, but it has also got life long lessons to be learned! Marty was just asking me to get over GG the other night, but nope, I shared with him what wisdom & insights I've gained through it instead.. He surrendered in the end :p

1) It teaches us that in life; we do not and cannot control everything. Like Blair, she's so used to having everything her way, controlling every single move and action make so as she will get what she wants in the end. Manipulative, is the word for it. And finally, she's given up and it was taking a toll on her life! It's just too stressful to control. We should just let nature takes its course, because everything happens for a reason!

I particularly liked this top blair's having on; can be seen in season 2-epi 20

2) Nothing is permanent. Love, friendship, career, life... The person you are in love with now may not be someone you will love in the future, likewise too. You may be best friends with someone now but again, both might part ways as you growing up. Life.. someone close to your heart might just leave this world. Blair & Nate, Blair & Chuck, Blair & the Duke, then Blair & Nate again! Omg. See!?! Same goes to Serena & Dan, then Aaron, then Dan again...

3) If you love someone, and you know that that someone likes you too- please DO tell that someone before it's too late. Don't let your ego take over your heart & feelings!! I quote Dan, 'you have to decide which one's more important to you- keeping your pride and getting nothing; or taking a risk and maybe, maybe having everything'. How true!

*Sigh, makes you want to be part of it, no? Back to reality now..
**
Jo celebrated her 21st last Friday, at the Uropa function room! It was 'circus' themed :D

This is to a girl who deserves nothing but the best ;)

Photos taken by Fazil, an amazing photographer!

**
Vicky & Su Mei had their housewarming last Sunday. They live on cardigan/waterloo street, a 2 storey apartment.. really cosy and i liked it straight away. When you walk in, a garden greets you and it makes you like home. Or Alice in wonderland, as I put it :) Thanks for inviting, girls!

part of the group

Su Mei & I

p.s. Ken, remember Su Mei? Hehe.. we took a few pictures and had to choose the best because i told her that i was gonna show ken and she was like 'oh okok must take a nice cause ken is gonna see it!' haha :)

**
OK, am gonna start on my mandarin essay now.
*'wo hen xi huan xie zuo wen' :)*
