Sigh, exam frenzy is up high in the air now! What amazes me is, I see students studying in the library at 11 at night, on Sundays, in the dining hall, everywhere! Melbourne Uni students are hardcore. And what about me?? I just started. Hope it's not too late.

"You're never too late as long as you reach before your destination".
(Please let it be true!)

Hmm, I was supposed to answer the questions tagged by Jac Kee. But it's tough as these questions require extended period of thinking, so I'll postpone it till the next post. :) It's the first time someone tagged me so I must, must complete it!

I feel like eating, I wanna eat. But, I'm not hungry! I'm just greedy. Should I eat, or not?
Sigh. Self-control, wei lynn..

Look what I posted on the brick walls of my study! :

Lol. Self-affirmative notes to raise my spirits in accordance to the exam frenzy.

One for each subject, how perfect =)
(I think only last min students turn to these kinda methods, sadly)

Last Friday, 26th Oct:

We(suyan, mich & I) decided to join PJ and all for the Fiesto Latino party at Equinox. Salsa and latin songs on the top floor, R&B on the ground floor. I really, really admire those who can dance so well!

PJ's a french so obviously he can dance salsa ;)

Hey, Singaporeans (Jun Shen) can too! He was teaching the girls how to dance, in fact. No joke!!

PLUS, it's also happens to be:

SHEUE YNG'S BIRTHDAY ON THE 26TH OCT!

Happy Birthday dear! We've been friends since form 1. It's been 6 years now. Though you may be in London and here I am in Melbourne, distance is nothing when it comes to friendship!! I hope you're having tons of fun there. Much from love from me.
*hugssss*

Aww and look at this pic below!!

Pretty, ain't it??
I took it at 6 a.m. in the morning from my room. Yes, that's the view I have from my room!! =) Daylight saving started then (Sun at 2a.m). Maybe that's why the skies were of extra colours..

For those who don't know:
Daylight saving is the practice of advancing standard time by one hour in the spring of each year and of setting it back by one hour in the fall in order to gain an extra period of daylight during the early evening.
I had to add one hour of my time in Melbourne!! Unbelievable & awesome :)

Ahh, ICAC'S Battle of the Bands last night!! Had to go support the IH band baby!! It was an inter-collegiate event.

Sunday night, 28th Oct:
@ The Metro

Monica, me & wei.

I haven't introduced Wei before. She's an exchange student from China. We became friends during O-Week. A very soft spoken girl she is ;)

THE IH BAND!!

What's so special about our band is that the guitarist Wiggy(above), can play the guitar on his back without looking at it!!!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!

*sighs and gasps in utter disbelief*

Musically inclined people never fail to make me gaze at them in awe.

Dhivia, our vocalist was awesome. She reminds me so much of Whitney Houston. The other band members were great too.

James- the Drummer.

Ormond's Band.

Clayton, our other vocalist.

And on the way walking back, we decided to take a random pic. :)

Wohoo here comes another post. Not bad okay I've been quite consistent with my blog. :) If it were me LAST TIME, I'd be creating and deleting and re-creating blogs every now and then, all because I wasn't satisfied with my old one. Thank goodness I've matured and learned to accept that nothing is perfect.

I'm supposed to be doing a lot of other more important things now, but heck I choose to blog because my hands are itchy!! And besides I just had my cafe latte and cinnamon doughnuts again, so i'm feeling very cloud nine-ish. :D

Ooh, and guess what??

I had BAK KUT TEH last night for dinner!

Don't laugh okay, living in a residential college does not provide you home cooked dishes like these.

Haha, all thanks to Ching for cooking. Apparently, the only reason she cooked was because of me. Not sure if it's true lah... but I wanna believe it's true because in life, we must always believe in the good side of people!! Especially now that the world is revolving in such a rapid rate that people no longer believe in good things happening to them. It's not true ok!! Good things happen to good people. Period.

Oh shoot. Am I saying that I am a good person?? I sure hope so!!

Anywayss, thanks so much Ching! =)

Last Thursday was Music night @ IH.

And yet again I was overwhelmed by talented people surrounding me. Why is everyone here at Melbourne so talented?? They're either good at dancing, singing, playing the guitar, piano, etc.

It's like, you think someone's good, but you're bound to find someone better, and another someone even better! So it's true when the chinese saying goes: "Yi shan hai you yi shan gao." Translation: there's always one mountain which is higher than the other one. Well it basically means, no one's the best because there's always someone better than you.

I particularly enjoyed the solo by Aaron, "Forever Young", and Wiggy's band performance of "November Rain" by Guns and Roses.

I love music. I do.

Then again, who doesn't?

Last Friday, 19th October:

After classes, I met up with Jo and we headed to DFO, Spencer Street to meet Elaine! Sigh girls & our shopping. It's never ending. ;) As much as I enjoy shopping, I'm glad to say I have quite a high level of self-control. So far in Melbourne I've only shopped for about 4 times? Honestly. And this is due to the fact that my parents have brought me up well, instilling values of the importance of money.

So anyway I got myself a skinny jeans and a jacket. Come to think of it, these 2 pieces of clothings are useful both in the short run and the long run!! =P That's why I did not hesitate to purchase them. ;) Lol!

My shopping convention is that, I'm willing to pay a little more for clothes which I can wear it all the time. Say, jeans, mini skirt, and jackets. But for tops like spaghetties/tank tops, I will not buy them unless it's cheap.

Elaine bought soooo many things man, from clubbing outfits to hot pants to shoes to don't know what la. Jo got a few good buys too. :)

Oh did I mention that Elaine's older brother's gf from Indonesia joined us too.

After shopping, us girls went to Crown to meet Elaine's brother for dinner. We dined at this seafood place called Waterfront.

I had:

Salad with lobsters, avacado.

Jo had:

Some pan fried fish.

Elaine had:

Salmon something, hehe.

Elaine's brother bought us dinner. So nice of him. :)

Oh this is him with his gf:

Anita & Alan.

After a really late dinner, all of us headed to the casino. Hehe it was my first time in the casino! So I played the noob-est game of all, rulet. Not bad okay I won some money. :) Met up with PJ and Shen for a while.

Jo & I slept over at Elaine's beautiful house.

Here are some pics:

On Saturday, 20th October:

Drinking party at PJ's to celebrate Derrick's birthdayy!

I just realised that I did not have a picture with PJ, the host. Probably cause he was too busy making everyone feel comfortable. Lol. Thanks for the drinks, PJ. ;)

Derrick the birthday boy & I.

The amount of drinks PJ got.
(Tequila, vodka, wine, sakae, gin)

Chelsea, me & Sandy! :)

Sandy & I.

Jun Shen & I.

He claims that he designed that shirt on the wall!!
Yearite!! Hehe. Apparently it has magical effects in the dark
.

Daniel & I.
(A friend back from high school)

Have you realized that Sandy's always looking so hysterical?? Hehe.

Yuet yuet! :)

Allison & I =)

Ming was my cameraman for the night. Thank you ming!!

All in all, I had fun that night. There were mexicans, americans, french people. The western people bond through drinking. Lol. There's nothing wrong with drinking, really. But of course la, us Asians who can't drink must know our limits. ;)

p/s: special thanks to mich, yuet, sandy and ming for. hehe. you guys know what i mean! hehe.

Off to dinner now, bye!

I just wrote an article to hand in to "The Globe", IH weekly newsletter. But, as I copied most of the sentences from the book I read (due to the author's explicit ideas and genuine style of writing), the editor said he can't publish it as it's copyright infrigement. I'd have to write what inspired me instead from this abstract.

Anyways, I'll just copy and paste the "original" article here okay? It's so meaningful I wanna share it with all of you!! :D

Falling in Love

Today I’m going to talk about... love. Particularly, love with “the one”, soul mate, or however you call it.

Sometime early this year, my mother presented me a book entitled “Teen love series on relationships”. The teachings and insights I’ve gained so far has been with me ever since. I’m now going to share the beauty of this book with all of you.

Love is a wonderful thing. I’m sure all would agree with me. When your heart opens up and you see another person through loving eyes, it truly is one of life’s best experiences. When another person looks at you in return in that special way, you will think you have discovered heaven on earth.

It is a mystery why we fall in love, how it happens, why some grow and why some fail. Just as life itself is more than the sum of bones and muscles in the body, love is more than the sum of physical attraction, interest and commonalities that two people share. And just as life itself is a gift that comes and goes in its own time, so too, the coming and going of love must not be questioned in its ways.

Very often when we first experience love, we try to grasp it and hold it tightly. We refuse to see that love is a gift freely given and a gift that freely moves away. When a relationship is falling apart, we try desperately to reclaim the love that is lost rather than accepting the gift for what it was, then moving on.

We want to know answers where there are no answers. We want to know what is wrong with us that makes the other person no longer love us. We blame ourselves and try anything to find meaning to what has happened. Until we accept its own mysterious ways, we live in a sea of misery. Truth is, there is no meaning beyond love itself.

If you find yourself in love with a person who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn’t choose to rest in the other person’s heart.

All we can really do is accept love for all its mystery when it comes to our lives. Feel the power of it that drives us to do better, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it alive in you. Give it to others who seem poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can.

The secret of love is that it is a gift, and that it can be made only by giving it away.

Love has its own time, its own season, and its own reasons for coming and going. We can’t bribe it or coerce it or reason it into staying. We can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to us. But if it chooses to leave, from our heart or from the heart of our lovers, there is nothing we can do and should do. Love has always been and will always be a mystery.
Be glad that it came to our lives for a moment. If we keep our hearts open, it will come again.

Now when I look back at my past relationship, I look at love as a great teacher. Learning is often painful. But I thought of what the book taught me, ‘you will never lose at love if you always ask yourself what it is teaching you, and you listen very carefully when it answers.’

Remember, you don’t choose love. Love chooses you.

Note: This article is taken out from an abstract from the book I mentioned above.

There you go! Hope some of you will be inspired by this article. I did. :)

Hmm, now I have to brain storm on what to write...

Monday, October 15, 2007

It felt like summer man today.

So bloody hot I can actually sweat! I wonder how will I be able to cope with the weather in M'sia now.. lol.

Anyway, another weekend came and went. Time flies :(

I was browsing through my brother, Shaun's friendster. And it hit me that he's growing up so fast. I mean, yes he's only 14 and I've only left m'sia for about 3 months. But his recent pics has shown great maturity in him, in terms of looks and myabe character as well(though intuition contributed to this more likely).

I almost teared seeing him with doing those break dancing stunts, with a great bunch of happy friends, and with braces on(which i obviously didn't know till I saw him with it I know how can it be right?!) So anyway, my point here is that, it aches as a bigger sister to see her younger brother grows up so soon... What more of parents seeing their children growing up?

On Thursday, 11th October:

And on Friday, 12th October:

We all went to see Suyan perform!!!!!!! She was in "Poise", a production by flare dance. She looked ravishingly gorgeous that night ;)

This is her with the flowers we got her! Soo pretty right??

Those who went to support her. :)
**

And on Saturday night, 13th October:

I went to see this orchestra performance by the Engineering Music Society. My friend Matt from HK was performing the violin and I thought I'd go support, besides it's good exposure.

Wilson Hall.
(where the orchestra performance was being held)

Adrian & I camwhoring!

Matt, me & Heng Lin.
(Matt's from HK and Heng Lin lives in IH and he's by far the best pianist/musician I've ever seen!)

p/s: this reminds me of you, Sze keat! Cause you're so talented in music and engineering stuff. I remember you telling me you performed in some band or something. Lol.

After the orchestra, I went to shashi's place and we played taboo. Jo, Nick, Ching were there too! Stayed over at Ching's as it was too late to walk back... *Thanks, Ching!*

**

And on Sunday, 14th October:

We (Yuet, ming, mich, jess and I) went to eat dim sum at the famous Sharks Fin restaurant.

I miss eating dim sum in m'sia cause its wayy cheaper over there! =(
